To continue to keep the health of our essential staff a priority, ONLY visitors with an approved adoption application and an appointment will be able to enter the shelter. We limit the number of individuals from a family to no more than 2, with no children under the age of 8.
To begin the adoption process, please complete and submit an online adoption application located on our website: https://www.hsdcohio.org/adoptable. If you know the name/number of the pet you are interested in adopting, please enter the information on the application. Otherwise, please indicate what type of animal you are interested in (e.g., small adult dog, medium-sized puppy, kitten, adult long-haired cat). Once your application is received, one of our adoption counselors will call you to discuss your application and the animal(s). Our goal is to make a great match between the needs of the animal and the best adoptive home and lifestyle. An appointment will be scheduled for you to come to the shelter and meet the animal if it appears to be a good match.
Our website is current with available animals. We do not list pets that may be at the shelter or in foster care that have an adoption pending or are not yet available for adoption.
