Help us build ARF! Our capital campaign is underway, and we have only a few months to raise $1.8 million—every contribution brings us closer to our goal.
Learn more about Our Vision and How to Help.
The Humane Society of Delaware County has been a cornerstone of our community for more than 50 years, improving the quality of life for our communities, neighbors and pets and helping ensure that Delaware continues to be one of the best places to live.
HSDC helps rehome pets and respond humanely to stray dogs and cats, investigate cases of abuse and neglect, better control feral cat populations, and help seniors afford to feed and care for their pets. We do this all while 99% funded by private donations and grants.
As one of the fastest-growing areas in the state and the number of animals in need increasing each year, our current facility can’t keep pace. We have run out of space for animals and staff, limiting our ability to expand programs and provide more services for the community.
Goal: $1.8 Million by June 30, 2025
Our Vision
A group of community leaders has joined with HSDC to envision a state-of-the-art one-stop site for people and animals in Delaware County called the Animal Resource Facility or ARF.
- Step 1: Secure the land to provide better services for our community. We need $1.8 million to ensure we are at the heart of our community and have the necessary acreage to build the infrastructure needed for the growing number of families in our community.
- Step 2: Build a one-of-a-kind, all-inclusive campus that ensures the highest standards of care for our animal companions and our community. ARF will be a public/private partnership that provides:
- More than double the space of our current facility, allowing us to provide care for more animals in need and accommodate a growing demand for our services.
- Separate, sound-controlled spaces for dogs and cats, creating calm, stress-free environments where animals can stay without additional stress.
- A state-of-the-art veterinary clinic, equipped with advanced tools and technology to ensure our veterinary staff can deliver the best care possible for all animals.
- Flexible spaces for humane and cruelty/neglect cases, enabling us to respond quickly and effectively to emergency situations while providing animals with the specialized care they need.
- Expanded adoption and educational areas, making it easier for families to connect with their new pets while also learning about responsible pet ownership and animal welfare.
- Step 3: Make our best hometown even better with a public/private partnership to create a one-stop campus for all things related to animal health and safety.
- Recruit veterinarians, groomers, trainers and related health and safety providers to our one-stop campus that grows and evolves based upon community needs.
- Studies show we’ll also contribute to the local economy, enhance neighborhood safety, help more seniors and veterans care for their companion pets and improve the overall quality of life in Delaware County.
