Note: All volunteers are required to attend PAWS training. The schedule of classes and sign up information is located here.
Current Volunteers
Thank you for taking the steps to become a PAWS volunteer at The Humane Society of Delaware County. We are so thankful for your dedication to making our shelter a better place for the animals! If you have any questions about the volunteer program, please contact Debra at debra.leckrone@hsdcohio.org . Volunteering regularly is one of the best ways you can help the animals. Consistent positive interactions between volunteers, staff, and the animals makes for a great environment. Please don’t hesitate to ask staff members any questions you may have.
New volunteers must complete the HSDC volunteer orientation training in order to sign up for volunteer shifts. If you have not completed volunteer orientation, you can obtain information on how to sign up here.
Volunteering in the Shelter
The HSDC uses Volgistics, a schedule-based volunteer program.
Please use the red Volunteer Log In button above to sign in and schedule your volunteer time at the shelter.
Please note that shelter staff are counting on you to honor your commitment to show up – on time, and work the shift that you have signed up to do. Please update the sign up information in a timely manner if you cannot work. This will give other volunteers an opportunity to fill the slot! If you need to cancel your shift, you can do so up to 24 hours to the start of your shift. If it is less than 24 hours, please email Debra to let her know debra.leckrone@hsdcohio.org
On-the-Go Event Volunteers
This is a fun way to volunteer and helps our pets get noticed! The events are a lot of fun and are a great way to get to know other volunteers and our animals. For most OTG events we have volunteer opportunities as table attendant and dog assistant. Please note that dog assistants must be 16 years old or older. Any questions about volunteering at events should be directed to Debra Leckrone at debra.leckrone@hsdcohio.org
