We Are Here To Help!

We know that life happens and it can be difficult to a pet owner. We strive to provide you judgment-free support, helping you decide what is best for you and your family.

If you are thinking of rehoming your pet, sometimes, a new home is best. But the shelter is NOT your best option and should only be your last resort. Why?

Because animal shelters are scary for pets and often, as is the case at the Humane Society of Delaware County, shelters are overcrowded with no available space. If your pet can find a new home without coming to the shelter, that’s your best option.

However, if you have tried all options and are still needing help, please give us a call at (740)369-7387.

Please note that the HSDC is not an open-intake shelter. We work off a surrender wait list due to space constraints. Our wait time for surrenders are between one week to several weeks, depending on the species and time of year. We do not have the ability to take immediate, same day, or same week surrenders.
